HANNA SAFIEH
Born in Jerusalem in 1910, Hanna Safieh was one of the early local photographers of Palestine. His images later graced the pages of National Geographic, Readers Digest, London News and Associated Press Services. In the words of Issam Nasser, professor at Al-Quds University, when viewing Safieh's photographs one strongly senses the "obligation to document. It is as if he knew... One day all that was familiar would no longer be recognizable".
